AngularJS LTS Extended in response to COVID-19

Background

AngularJS is still an extremely stable framework for building web applications and has millions of developers across the world wide web. Its successor Angular which uses the same philosophies has been growing more than 5x faster than AngularJS with a community larger than 1.5m developers worldwide.

With the release of version 10 of Angular we continue to move the platform forward with features that will help developers be even more productive. For information on the new features and how to upgrade, check out this post.

AngularJS Long Term Support

On July 1st 2018, we entered a Long Term Support (LTS) period for AngularJS 1.8. We originally announced that we would discontinue the support on the 31st of July 2021.

Over the past few months we heard that many companies are hurt by the unprecedented times caused by the global pandemic of COVID-19. In response, we are extending the AngularJS LTS with another 6 months, until the 31st of December 2021.

Keep in mind that even after the AngularJS LTS ends, all AngularJS applications that work now, will continue to work in the future. The AngularJS package will still be available on npm, bower, and CDNs.

Onward we go

The Angular community and platform are where they are because of the amazing people like you. With that being said, head over to see the roadmap and we’d love for you to share your thoughts on our social media pages.

Great things are ahead.
